Presenting Research at the Kansai Sociological Association Conference in Kobe, Japan

We are delighted to share that our PhD researcher Shiori recently participated in and presented at the Kansai Sociological Association Conference held in Kobe, Japan. This marked her first-ever presentation at a domestic Japanese conference and offered an opportunity to embed our European-based project within the local academic landscape.
She was placed in the Welfare Session alongside three other presenters. The presentations offered rich contextual insights highly relevant to our ongoing work.
She presented about the project and the paper she is writing, focusing on the policy framing of food banks using National Diet minutes. The presentation went well, and she was able to network with many Japanese academics in the similar field.
The connections made, will undoubtedly shape upcoming one-year ethnographic fieldwork starting this October. For now, equipped with a stronger local network, she is eager to continue diving deeper into the complex field of Kyoto.
